You've booked your appointment; how exciting!
I'm really looking forward to working with you!
There are a few things that you can do to be well prepared to have your makeup done by me.
Hydrate
Oh man, this one is so important, not only for your makeup appt, but for every day life!
Make sure you've been sipping on that H2O the day before, and leading up to your makeup appointment.
Dehydration shows in your skin and especially your lips; it can sink your features and show excess texture in your skin. I can correct for slight texture issues with proper skin prep, but makeup doesn't hide major texture issues.
Come with a clean face
Fresh, baby fresh! Unless we've consulted otherwise beforehand, please come with a clean canvas for me to work on.
No sunscreen please!
I'm alllll for sun protection, but on the day of your appointment, please either skip the sunscreen, or let me know if you're wearing some so I can remove it during the skin prep phase of your appointment.
zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide cause white, ghostly flashback in photo and film, even through foundations and other makeup. If you've ever looked back at vacation photos and noticed you looked pale, even though you had a tan at that time, you're seeing ingredients from your sunscreen shining in the light.
The foundations I use generally don't have an spf rating, as the majority of the time I'm doing makeup, its going to be captured on video or camera. It's something to keep in mind for after your photo op is over; feel free to use a spray on sunscreen after the photo op to protect your skin from the sun.
Hair Removal
Keep your waxing appointments to at least 48 hrs in advance to having your makeup done! Facial waxing is generally done in patches (we don't usually wax our ENTIRE face) and makes the texture of your skin incredibly smooth in certain areas. This can affect the way makeup sits on your skin in those areas, sometimes resulting in the makeup not "sticking". Fun fact: its those teeny tiny hairs on your skin that the makeup actually sticks to!
Tweezing can be done closer to your appointment time, but keep in mind if you have sensitive skin that reacts by puffing up and turning red, it may show. I can color correct for redness, I can only slightly help reduce textures.
I carry tweezers in my kit, you may use them if you need some last minute brow shaping, however I'm not an aesthetician, which means I won't do any hair removal for you!
Don't pick at that spot!
Deep, zen breathes. Let it be.
#Inspo
I love seeing your inspiration pics!! I really want to be on the same page as you when it comes to the looks we're working to achieve together. Send them to me beforehand so I can be prepared, or have them ready to go at the start of your appointment. I will ask you what you like about your inspo, so I can translate it into a look that is best for you and your features. Our faces and features are all different, and its so much fun to celebrate that!
